The heart behind the ministry

Jesus is the source of every freedom.

Set Free Through Christ is a Christian prayer and deliverance ministry founded by Emery Chapa. Our heart is to point people to Jesus, proclaim the truth of His Word, and walk alongside adults seeking spiritual freedom and restoration.

We believe the Lord can bring freedom as we walk with Him in daily prayer, repentance, obedience, and faith. A dedicated deliverance session is not a requirement for Jesus to work in someone’s life. This ministry offers an intentional setting for biblical prayer and spiritual support.

Emery completed deliverance ministry training through AWI Freedom and was ordained as a minister on September 5, 2026, through I Will Stand International, Inc.

An important distinction: Emotional distress, trauma, physical illness, or mental-health symptoms do not by themselves establish a spiritual cause. Ministry is voluntary and does not replace medical or mental-health care.

A personal testimony

My journey to freedom

My journey to freedom did not begin in a deliverance session. It began as I walked with Jesus Christ.

As I continued growing in my relationship with the Lord, He began revealing things in my life and setting me free, even before I understood much about deliverance ministry. I experienced real freedom simply through walking with Him, seeking Him, and allowing Him to work in my life.

Then, the Lord led me to a dedicated deliverance session. Through that experience, I believe He brought me into a deeper and more complete freedom from struggles that had followed me for years.

But it was Jesus who set me free in both seasons.

Deliverance is not confined to a particular session, minister, or method. Jesus Christ is the Deliverer. He can bring freedom as we walk with Him, and He can also work through intentional prayer and deliverance ministry.

The freedom is found in Jesus, not in the session. — John 8:36
Biblical understanding

What is deliverance ministry?

Christian deliverance ministry involves prayer and seeking freedom from spiritual oppression through the authority of Jesus Christ. It is grounded in Scripture and centered on His power, not the minister or a particular method.

Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions

Review these answers before requesting ministry.

Do I have to attend a deliverance session to experience freedom?

No. Jesus can bring freedom as you walk with Him in faith, prayer, repentance, and obedience. A dedicated session is one way to seek prayer and support, not a prerequisite for Christ to work.

Can a Christian experience spiritual oppression?

This ministry understands that Christians belong to Christ while still encountering spiritual warfare. Christians hold different views about how oppression operates; our emphasis is on Jesus’ authority and biblical discernment, not fear.

How do I know whether I need deliverance?

People seek prayer for many reasons. We encourage prayerful reflection and discernment rather than assuming that a symptom or life struggle proves demonic activity. A ministry request is not a diagnosis.

What happens during a session?

A session begins with conversation and a general prayer of repentance and renunciation. Emery then establishes clear prayer boundaries for the session, including that no spirit may harm or take control of you and that dramatic manifestations are not invited. She may ask direct questions in prayer to identify what this ministry understands as spiritual permissions or entry points and the ways oppression has affected your life. When something is identified, you may participate through forgiveness, repentance, renunciation, surrender, or rejecting a lie and agreeing with God’s truth. After permissions are addressed, oppressive spirits are commanded to leave in the name and authority of Jesus Christ. This process may repeat as different areas are addressed, followed by prayer for restoration, peace, and guidance for continuing to walk in freedom. You remain aware, involved, and free to pause or stop at any time.

What are spiritual permissions or entry points?

This ministry uses these terms for areas believed to give oppression an opportunity to remain, such as ongoing sin, unforgiveness, agreement with lies, occult involvement, ungodly vows or dedications, and certain generational patterns. These areas are approached prayerfully and individually. A life struggle, diagnosis, trauma history, or item disclosed on a form does not by itself prove a spiritual cause.

Will I lose control or be forced to do anything?

No. The session is collaborative and voluntary. You may ask questions, decline an activity, pause, or stop. You will not be encouraged to surrender control of your speech or body, pressured to disclose graphic details, or told to discontinue medical or mental-health treatment.

How should I prepare for a session?

Complete the AWI introductory video and all requested forms thoughtfully and honestly. Pray about your willingness to forgive, repent, renounce, surrender, and agree with God’s truth where appropriate. If a session is scheduled, plan for a private, interruption-free setting, allow sufficient time, and follow the preparation instructions you receive.

How long does a session last?

Please plan for approximately 3–4 hours so the process is not rushed, although some sessions may conclude sooner. The expected time commitment will be reviewed before an appointment is confirmed.

Are sessions available remotely?

Sessions may be conducted remotely. The format, connection details, privacy needs, and any preparation instructions will be confirmed with you before scheduling.

Is there a charge for ministry?

No. Deliverance ministry sessions are free. If you later wish to give a love offering, it is entirely voluntary and never affects eligibility, scheduling, or ministry.

Why do I register through AWI Freedom?

Emery continues to use AWI Freedom’s introductory video and preparation forms because they help participants understand and prepare for the deliverance process. AWI operates that portal, and its own privacy practices apply to information submitted there.

Does completing the AWI forms book an appointment?

No. Your information is reviewed first. If the ministry is able to move forward, you will be contacted to discuss next steps and scheduling. Sessions are generally offered on Fridays, subject to availability.

Who is this ministry for?

The current request process is for adults age 18 and older who are voluntarily seeking Christian prayer and deliverance ministry for themselves.

Is my information confidential?

Personal information is handled with care and discretion for ministry review, subject to applicable legal and safety obligations. The preparation portal is operated by AWI Freedom, not this website, so please review AWI’s privacy information before submitting sensitive details. Confidentiality and legal privilege cannot be guaranteed in every circumstance.

Is this counseling or psychiatric care?

No. Set Free Through Christ is a Christian prayer ministry separate from Set Free Behavioral Health. It does not provide diagnosis, psychotherapy, psychiatric treatment, medication advice, or emergency services.

What should I do after a session?

Continue in prayer, Scripture, fellowship, discipleship, and a healthy Christian community. You may also receive individualized guidance for rejecting old lies, renewing your mind with truth, closing former entry points, and maintaining healthy spiritual boundaries. Spiritual ministry and appropriate medical or mental-health care can coexist.
